Hello, I just recieved my first ever electric guitar this morning and I am not sure about a couple of things on it and was wondering if any one can help me please. There is like a thin layer of see through plastic film over the pickups, is this just to protect them while they are in the stores and should I peel them off or are they meant to stay on it. Also there is like 4 volume knobs on it are these for effects or is it just to turn the volume up and down. Plus there is a flick switch that you can either keep in the middle or flick it up and down, what is this swith for. Sorry if these questions are a bit stupid but I have no knowledge of Guitars, thanks

Plastic film - off it comes!
Two volume knobs (one for each pickup), and two tone knobs (one for each pickup).
The switch - flick it up/to the left = neck position pickup. Center = both pickups. Down/to the right = bridge pickup.
