Post Every rose has it's ... WTF
I own A Tivo. And I record stuff all the time and watch what I want to watch. But sometimes I actually watch LIVE TV. And what I tuned on VH1 was just amazing to me. Rock of LOVE? LOL!

So we all know Brett Michaels. From poison. Yeah he wrote ballads in a 3 chord progression. And left the rest to his band to really make them shine. But I have a different kind of complaint; if you want to call it that.

Here is a guy at the right place at the right time, with the looks and the charm and corporate mentality enough for a factory music company to take advantage of. Basically a Corporate music giant endorsed and hyped up something that wasn't really there. The giants took a band and took the playboy out of the bunch *in the 80's* and made him a huge rock icon. How is this possible? ill tell you how...

First off. The lyrics were good. I'll agree that the the lyrics in this song were very well written; whether it be helped along from a writer or not. The band pulled it off perfectly. The song itself is great and legendary. Kudos to the awesome producer. Here is where I have a problem.

Instead of the MASSIVE independent artists out the there that can and will have the ability to make a song that can easily pull off the magic Poison did decades ago, the corporate media is looking for playboy type and poser players to fill this role. They want to corrupt our outlook on rock as we know it. The music industry has always indulged themselves on the simple fact is that sex sells. No matter what the talent and dedication is. Let's face it, this guy has been living on a song that has clearly stood the tests of time. And I congratulate him.

My point of this post is to clarify the fact that music is all in how you hear the music. Give your indie bands a chance. Bring back guitar solo's. This guy was born on them! Trust me, without his band they would be nothing. I'm tired of the OLD HAT corporate business model. It's DEAD! Start supporting independent artists and stop buying from the big business (Although there is a hand full of artists from big comapnys that are AWESOME). I don't think I would be the first to say that I am "..tired of being a corporate media slave". SERIOUSLY!!!! When was the last time you said "Wow! I wish I could play like Brett Michaels!" Wont ever happen! As guitarist we see through this stuff. All the FLUFF as WE call it, and not buy into this garbage they drive into our heads on TV. It's almost nauseating. Yeah sure I am jealous... I'm jealous that this guy gets tons of hot babes and for what..... Writing a 3 chord progression and being in the right place at the right time, and selling out to a major TV station that is looking to rehash the 80's in a degrading way. This is gut wrenching bullshit.

But hey! then again! do what get's you laid! Women like it because they like the Lyrics. Musicians like it because its one of the first songs that we play that may get us laid! then again who are we kidding? It's a stereotype in rock music. Not all of us look like Brett Michaels nor do all of us play like SRV *Insert favorite guitarist here*. Who do we look to as guitarists? Who are we most influenced by? Think about who you are? We don't follow the sheep in this area. We are all unique. Sure its great to learn these ballads and impress our women. Thats all they are good for maybe. Personally I refuse to buy into this big business model that has been dead for over a decade. What do you guys think as a community. I am sick of the bullshit that keeps circulating our airwaves. Instead of trying to find "LOVE" for Brett Michaels (Like he has any trouble finding love) Lets find love for music. Fuck these corporate giants that are invading and degrading our music airwaves.

To all aspiring guitarists.
