Post Peavey 210 amp dies
Can you help me? My amp has the following problems:

1) Only one speaker works. If I switch the wires, the other one will work. What gives?
2) The amp overheats and starts to smell.
3) The amp shuts off after 5 minutes, powerlight and all.

Any help would be appreciated, including a parts source.

floydrose2 (yes, this is my birthname, but I'm not the famouse one)

When you posted this last time I knew it was going to be an overheating problem, but I said it was definately in the power supply section. Now I'm gonna go ahead and say possibly the power amp section, but most likely the power supply. If you have any technical abilities, open the amp (unplug it, of course)(oh, and watch out for those big capacitors right there) and look for anything that is obviously out of the ordinary (loose or shorted wire, for example). If you can't see anything too obvious, have a tech look at it so you don't kill yourself and/or ruin your amp completely.
As for the speakers, I would have to see how it is wired to give you an answer. Maybe if you draw a little diagram or something....?

Take it to a repair shop. If you aren't able to figure out why it's not working in the first place, you're not going to be able to fix it yourself. It's unsafe, definitely just take it in to a pro (or something close to one). If you're going to go the route of self-repair, then educate yourself thoroughly first, at the very least, but again I do not recommend that.

i have never taken this amp out my studio

its not on ebay or really advertised, but ive had my eye on a diezel einstien 50w head and 2x12 from mansons for a while

im not making an effort to sel it because it more or less does it all, which is why i got it

Ok. I admit I gave bad advice. I realized today, while reaching into a live 480 volt panel, that I have become quite comfortable with electricity. Maybe even a little too comfortable. It's easy for me to open up an amp because I work with electricity every day and I know how to safely discharge capacitors and all that fun stuff. So yea, take it to a repair shop.
