Yea, talent definately helps.

And flatwound strings.

Fender has a great clean sound and guitar a good hollow body guitar which a lot of the jazz guys use.
And learn your theory front and back cause you will need it but have fun playing it.
listen to Wes Montgomery and Charlie Christian Both great Jazz guitar players.

tlaent...good one and so true. much of your tone comes form you fingering technique. imo the roland jazz chorus is the best jazz amp ever. i could go on for days about its tone the way alot of metal heads talk about distortion. might be hard to find but well worth the search. if i was going to play jazz full time i would set the mesa boogie aside and find a roland.
