Post the g chord
Man, the g chord is really tough. All of my fingers keep interfering with the other strings. Especially my middle finger with the fifth string. Please tell me this is one of the hardest chords to play! Is there any tricks to playing it? My hands are so small that if is hard for me to arch my middle finger over the fifth string and still keep my other two fingers on the 1st and 2nd string.

Well mufman... I got good news and bad news.

Bad news. The G chord is EASY. And shouldn't be hard to play at all. Make sure your fingerings are correct. And if your a novice player please keep in mind that if your practicing half assed, you will learn half assed. When you practice chords or any other type of scales/notes make sure you are hitting the notes clearly and precisely. If you mess up play it slower. And work your way up to a fast change over. Do it over and over and OVER again until you get it right, and it FEELS right. As far as tricks go, there really is none. Just make sure your comfortable when your playing. Develop your own style of playing. make your own tricks, so to speak...

The Good news is that once you conquer your interference issue you will be on the road to bigger and better things. There are some REAL stretchers out there. But for now I suggest getting a basic chord chart to practice. (I'm assuming your a novice player) Just remember - Perfect practice makes perfect. Good luck friend!

if you are talking about the open G

E3
B0
G0
D0
A2
E3

then its a good idea to play it using 2nd finger for the A string, 3rd finger for E string and 4th for the top E string . this makes the transition to other chords such as D major or G7 and C and most others much easier.

if you mean the barre chord

E3
B3
G4
D5
A5
E3

Then you will have to practise it some more ( which has to be done anyway Smile )

i dont understand exactly what you mean !

the strings have names

E
B
G
D
A
E - The thick one

if you mean the A string and you are holding down the 3rd fret , then you would be playing something like this.......

E3
B0
G0
D0
A3
E3

Which would be Gsus4 ( which is called G major suspended 4th )

if not then you will have to explain it more clearly to me , otherwise i wont realise what you mean.

E3
B3
G0
D0
A2
E3

It is hard to play without interfering with other strings. How many g chords are there?

The key players in this chord are your middle finger and your pinky. Basically, focus on getting your middle finger to nail the 3rd fret on the low E and your pinky to nail the high G. From there, just make sure to keep it all clean!
