Post Fender Stratocaster vs. Fender Squier Affinity Stratocaster?
Hi all.

I am thinking about buying a Fender Squier Affinity Stratocaster. But what is the general difference between the real thing and a Squier? I currently play a Behringer Stratocaster copy, and a 15W Behringer Amp. After Christmas, I get a new Amp, Roland Cube 30X, but would it be worth the money to spend 250$ on a Squier Affinity, or do you think I should stick with my Behringer?

Best Regards,
Andreas/Sasser

im not sure where its made but if it is from indonesia or anythinglike that the wood is probably awful and you and your talent would soon out grow it....then again if it has good tone, sustain and plays like butter than that makes it a good guitar.

i play a 1984 squire and it rips. the only guitars that compete with it cost so much I cant afford it, my gut tells me that I would prefer say a mexican strat over a squire any day.

THe difference will be, a bad bridge on the Affinity, bad tuners, and with that said, they are incredibly difficult to keep in tune, and almost impossible to get the intonations right on. If you can spend the $400 for a Standard mexi Strat, do it.

Don't waste your time or money of a crappy Squier. As said above buy the Mexican strat. Just save a little longer if money is an issue. And if you save long enough you can buy a USA strat. Although I'm not a huge strat fan as it is. I will say that the usa strat is a nice guitar though.

To elaborate slightly more on my last post... I took my Squier (which wasn't even an Affinity, it was standard) and upgraded the neck with a Mighty Mite Fender licensed neck, put a standard fender bridge in, and took the original tuners off of my Mexican strat, and put them on (I have Sperzels on my Mexi). It plays as good if not better than my Mexi, and I couldn't be happier.

With that said, if you're interested in buying a cheap guitar and making upgrades to it, buy the Squier. Upgrading is fun, plus the end result will still be slightly cheaper than buying the Mexi strat (it came to a total $380 for my upgrades to the Squier).

this is fun and we have all done it. but for your first real or main guitar you will be happier just getting the guitar you like, rather then adding a bunch of parts to a body. thats something you do later, youll need a good guitar to play while you dick around with your project guitar. Plus what is 20 bucks or so compared to the pain in the ass it can be to install and set up all the add ons. trust me get the mexi fender and later on when you improve your skills you will be a better judge of what kind of upgrades(pickups usually) you would like. I dont know about any body else either but if a guitar doesn't come with the perfect neck for me....i dont bother buying it in the first place.
