Post Looking for tapping lessons
Hi there.
Does anyone know something about the tapping lessons on the net? For the begginers. Step by step. It would be great if someone had a link. Thanks in advance.

My friend had Jennifer Batten's school... It was great, there were some really good exercises... Seek for this - you won't lost anything...

Look at YouTube. Type "tapping lesson" in search. There are some, but most of it are crap IMO. Hope, you'll find something better.

find 3 notes on a string that sound good together

1. put your left hand pointer finger on the leftmost one

2. Hammer on to the rightmost note with a finger on your right hand

3. Pull off your right hand finger in a way that sorta "plucks" the string (playing the left most note)

4. Hammer on to the middle note using one of the fingers on your left hand

5. Repeat, increasing speed until you get it really fast.

you can modify this as you get comfortable with the basic technique. Its simpler than it looks.

This months June 2007 Guitar One magazine has a good tapping lesson from Reb Beach.

Beside the fact that he was/is in Winger.. he is still a awesome guitarist.

I reckon the important thing to remember with tapping is that you're not just tapping down on the string; it's a pulloff as well.

Also, decide which you find easier; the Van Halen method with the index finger (holding the pick between the palm and the second finger) or the more steve vai method, using the second finger to tap. Personally I find both work well in different situations.

And sometimes you accidentally hit open strings; it helps to dampen the strings with the back of your right hand (only really works with the VH method; too bloody hard otherwise Razz)

Or you could be a nutter and try using all your fingers.

Okay I usually tap with my index finger,so I suggest that, but it's personal choice mostly.Whatever feels more comfortable try this little tapping riff.

T P P H T P
13-11-10-11-13-12

So basically hammer with your the 13th fret with your right hand index finger(assuming you are right-handed if not reverse this)
and then pull off to the 11th and 10th then hammer 11th again the tap thee 13th and pull off to the 12th fret.Really tapping is fairly easy.It just takes lots of practice and patience.
