Post Good bar songs
So I'm starting a rock/ country band and we're picking out some music that we will be playing in bars. If you have any list of songs that have worked for you in bars that are good rock-country dancing songs, feel free to share! Thanks alot!

how's 'bout "One Burbon, One Scotch, One Beer" by George Thorogood?

that one would have to be a winner in a bar.

Buffalo Springfield - Expecting to fly.
Moody Blues - Nights in white satin
Santana - Black magic woman
Blue oyster cult - Dont fear the reaper
CCR - Fortunate son
Fleetwood mac - Rhiannon

This is all assuming its a good 'ol western type bar that has alot of older people doing slow dances. If its not ignore what I said Smile

I already mentioned our Talking Heads cover in another thread, which always went over well.

We also got a good response out of:
Social Distortion: I Was Wrong
Elvis Costello: Radio, Radio
The Pixies: Monkey's Gone To Heaven
The Pixies: Cover of "In Heaven" (from the movie eraserhead)

"In Heaven" is such a bizarre little song, but for whatever reason a lot of bar kids loved it.

Maybe everyone in our town is just completely whacked out! I wouldn't doubt it.

GREAT selection of good bar toons!!! ('Simple Man' ALWAYS seems to get a huge reaction! Same with the song "Can't You See" by the Marshall Tucker Band!! Especially if you throw a couple of tempo shifts into the song and pick up the pace a bit, slow 'er back down and do that a couple times during the song. It works wonders!)

thanks.... its ok, we run pretty heavy on old stuff and the problem with that is, the older audience doesnt get out to the clubs that much anymore. Its tough to get a local following when half of your audience is at home asleep by the time you're hitting the stage!

but basically i hate most modern rock and have no desire to learn any of it. Theres some stuff i like but we'll leave that to the 40 billion other bands in this town.
